FAQs

Answer: We may cost more upfront, but we quickly make this up with accuracy, speed and versatility. Our Batchmaster® counting system is three times faster than other counting systems on the market with four times greater accuracy. It can also run a wider range of product sizes than our competitors. Our highly engineered and proven counters utilize multiple patents that provide increased speed, accuracy, versatility, and production. The Batchmaster® counting system provides increased uptime as a result of engineering out linkages and other wear parts that require continual adjustments and replacement on other counters. It is common for our systems to run three shifts a day for 20 years. We highly recommend that you request rates and accuracies with every inquiry or RFQ. This will help you compare production capability to upfront cost. BSI is happy to provide videos that show rates and accuracies of your parts running on our counting systems and rates for integrated systems.

Answer: Most In-line scale systems are typically used for bulk-feeding products. The faster you run them the more product you give away. Wouldn’t it be great if you could increase the speeds and control the giveaway? Well, you can. Our Weighmaster® Fast Automatic Weigher (FAW) utilizes a patented system that accumulates up to 90% of the next batch while topping off the current batch. We utilize the same proven gating system we have used for 25 years for smaller batches on our FAW24 bowl feed. Our FAW-TR tray feed is perfect for large batches of product. 20 pound boxes of hardware can fill into a box at 7-9 boxes per minute with less than .07% giveaway with no under weights. This is twice as fast as other conventional in-line/pan feed weighers that utilize a single head scale. The FAW-TR tray feed takes up less space and can be set to work in weigh mode as well as weigh / count mode. BSI is happy to provide rates and accuracies for your product.

Answer: Roll baggers use pre-made bags on a roll. Some manufacturers require that you use their bag for proper operation. Roll baggers are considered entry-level baggers. They can run full-time production, but the bags are more expensive than bags made on a VFFS bagger, and the bags cannot be filled as fast as a VFFS bagger. Our Bagmaster® 250 or 400 Vertical Form, Fill, and Seal Bagging Machine make bags out of the flat stock film, with the bag formed around the product, producing bags from the less expensive flat web material. The roll bagger blows open the bag with air for filling, sometimes the bag does not open or open part way, or the parts bounce out of the bag. This is not an issue with a VFFS bagger because the parts are captured in the bag as it is formed around it. Artwork and print can be applied to both premade bags and flat stock bags. The VFFS can make more bags per roll of film than the standard configuration of the roll bagger. This means less downtime replacing film with the VFFFS. Flat film is less expensive than premade bags because there is less conversion process with flat film. This savings plus custom sizing the length of the bag allow customers to save 25-50% on making bags vs buying pre-made bags. The VFFS allows the customer to set the length of the bag through the HMI. Premade bags are purchased in a set size. If you are using a 4” x 6” long premade bag and you are only filling two inches of the bag the other 4” is wasted. With a VFFS you can adjust the length as needed. In this example you could set the length to 3” and now you have double your savings, because you can now make two bags with the amount of film required for one premade bag. Even if you short the bag 1” you now have one free bag for every five bags made. The rule of thumb is if you are using less than one million bags a year the roll bagger may be a good solution. If you ship more than one million bags per year the production speed, reduced downtime and material cost savings would justify a VFFS bagger.

Answer: Our Bagmaster® C295 vertical centerfold bagging machine is the most versatile bagger we produce. To make different size bags you only need to change the film stock to the width bag desired and adjust the spreader bar for that width bag. This bagger can make bags from 3”x3” to 9.75” wide x 9.75” long, or up to 27” long with multiple seals. This bagger can also produce bags with headers, hole punch and zip recloseable bags.

Answer: Our Bagmaster® C295 vertical centerfold bagging machine will fill product into the bag being formed through the side of the bag. This produces a bag without a back seal which allows for full panel graphics enhancing market appearance as well as for printing on the front and / or back of the bag. Header and hole punch options make an attractive retail package. The bagger uses centerfold or pre-applied recloseable zipper film.

Answer: Batching Systems, Inc. provides upgrades that are half the price of new equipment. Upgrading equipment increases process performance in very discernible ways – from increased speed and capacity and reduced energy costs to higher efficiency and decreased maintenance and downtime. Counter upgrades eliminate the need for compressed air and costly linkages associated with gate movements further reducing operating, spare parts, and maintenance costs.

Answer: From time-to-time Batching Systems, Inc. will offer used equipment that is traded in and refurbished.  This equipment can be configured to your needs and is thoroughly tested for optimal performance. With refurbished equipment from BSI, you get our proven patented core technology and a same as new 12-month warranty for all Batching Systems, Inc. fabricated and manufactured components.
